Maintenance Windows

Schedule planned downtime to suppress alerts during maintenance. Monitors continue running and recording results, but incidents and notifications are suppressed for the duration of the window.

Creating a Window

  1. Go to Maintenance Windows in the dashboard and click Schedule Maintenance.
  2. Name -- Describe the maintenance (e.g., "Database migration", "Server OS upgrade").
  3. Start time -- When the maintenance begins.
  4. End time -- When the maintenance ends.
  5. Affected monitors -- Select which monitors should be suppressed during this window. You can select individual monitors or all monitors.

During Maintenance

While a maintenance window is active:

  • Checks still run -- Monitoring continues as normal and results are recorded. This means you still have data about what happened during maintenance.
  • No incidents created -- Check failures do not create new incidents.
  • No notifications sent -- No alerts go out for affected monitors.
  • Status page updated -- If the affected monitors are displayed on a status page, the status page shows the scheduled maintenance.

After Maintenance

When the maintenance window ends:

  • Normal alerting resumes automatically. No manual action is needed.
  • Any issues detected after the window ends create incidents as usual.
  • If a monitor was already failing during the maintenance and is still failing when the window closes, an incident is created at that point.

Recurring Windows

Coming Soon

Recurring maintenance windows (daily, weekly, monthly) are planned for a future release. Currently, each maintenance window must be created individually.
